Species Spotlight
Redfish

With the Spring season just around the corner,
we begin setting our sights on redfish. Redfish (or Red Drum) are
opportunistic feeders and will eat just about anything given the right
conditions. They like live baitfish, dead baitfish, crabs, and shrimp.
They can be found from Texas to the
Carolinas and everywhere in between. As a fish with a schooling
mentality, it isn't uncommon to find school of redfish numbering in the
100's on Tampa Bay area flats in the fall. Typical sizes of catches this
time of year range from 3lbs to 15lbs with a trophy 20lb fish a
possibility.
